ROBOTIC SURGERY IN SHERMAN, TX

da Vinci minimally invasive gynecologic surgery

Robotic surgery lets your surgeon perform complex gynecologic procedures through a few tiny incisions, with more precision and an easier recovery than traditional open surgery. At G. DeAn Strobel, MD, PA in Sherman, TX, Dr. Karissa Cryer uses the da Vinci robotic system for women across North Texas and Texoma. Call or text 903-957-0275 to learn whether a robotic approach is an option for you.

What is robotic (da Vinci) surgery? It is a form of minimally invasive surgery. Your surgeon sits at a console and controls small, wristed instruments through a few keyhole incisions, guided by a high-definition, magnified 3D view. The robot does not operate on its own, your surgeon is in full control the entire time; it simply allows finer, steadier movements than the human hand alone.

What are the benefits? Compared with open surgery, robotic surgery usually means smaller incisions, less blood loss, less pain, a lower risk of infection, a shorter hospital stay, and a faster return to normal activities, often with barely visible scars.

What procedures can be done this way? Many gynecologic surgeries can be performed robotically, including hysterectomy, removal of fibroids (myomectomy), treatment of endometriosis, ovarian cyst removal, and prolapse repair. We will tell you honestly whether it is the best fit for your specific case.

Is it safe? Robotic gynecologic surgery is well established and widely used. As with any surgery there are risks, and Dr. Cryer will review them with you along with the benefits so you can make an informed choice.

What is recovery like? Because the incisions are small, most women recover more quickly than with open surgery, frequently going home the same day or the next and returning to light activity within a couple of weeks. You will get a personalized recovery plan.

Is it right for me? The best way to find out is an evaluation. Call or text 903-957-0275 and we will talk through whether a robotic, laparoscopic, or other approach makes the most sense for you.
